Materials Recovery Facility

The arc21 MRF (materials recovery facility) contract was awarded to Bryson Recycling in 2005.

The eleven constituent Councils of arc21 are Antrim Borough Council, Ards Borough Council, Ballymena Borough Council, Belfast City Council, Castlereagh Borough Council, Carrickfergus Borough Council, Down District Council, Larne Borough Council, Lisburn City Council, Newtownabbey Borough Council and North Down Borough Council.

Many of these Councils use wheeled bins to collect materials for recycling. The Council empty these bins and then deliver the mixed materials to us. They are sorted in the MRF, before being transported to various recycling facilities. To find our more about the sorting process click here.

Materials collected are paper; card and cardboard; food and drinks cans; and plastic bottles. Click here for a detailed list of what can and can’t be recycled in your recycling wheeled bin.
